It's time to raise the bar.....
SUPPORT AMENDMENT 71
This amendment establishes a different standard for changes to the Colorado Constitution, while protecting the ability of citizen initiated actions to change State Law.
Under current guidelines outside special interests are able to affect changes to the Colorado constitution that are better placed in state statutes. Since the constitution, establishes the structure of government and the rights of citizens, this document should be reserved for changes that fit those criteria.
Also, the ease of amending our constitution harms the State's credit rating and is a barrier for business development.
Amendment 71 would "raise the bar" for changes to the constitution by requiring signatures be gathered from all 35 State Senate Districts and be passed by a vote of 55% of those participating in an election.
